Unfortunately, single-glazed windows can lead to several issues, such as condensation, drafts, and noise pollution. Additionally, single glazing is not environmentally friendly due to heat loss. There are, however, many reasons to preserve your sliding window: it might be more aesthetically pleasing, or you could live in a listed building where maintaining sliding windows is mandatory. Fortunately, there is a way to retain the charm of your sliding window while addressing its drawbacks!

Have your existing sliding window replaced with a double-glazed variant. We craft your new double-glazed (HR++) sliding window custom-made in our own workshop to perfectly match the style of your property. We use mahogany wood for all components we make. This is a beautiful, warm wood type with high insulation value. This way, you preserve the historic character of your sliding windows while reducing your ecological footprint and keeping the city’s noise on the street!

At Heym, we take the time to assess what is necessary to replace your sliding window with a double-glazed version. To maintain your property’s appearance, we retain as many of the original elements of your old sliding window as possible. At Heym, you can choose to have only a new window or a complete new frame installed, depending on the condition of your current frame. After the new frame and/or window is installed, we seal any gaps to prevent drafts and paint everything neatly.

To keep the interior as close to the appearance of your old sliding window as possible, we use the traditional rope-and-pulley system. This ensures that your new double-glazed sliding window opens and closes smoothly.

Monumental Buildings

One of the main reasons to replace a sliding window with a double-glazed version, rather than switching to an entirely different system, is if you live in a listed building. In some cases, it is possible to install monument glass in an exact replica of the existing sliding window. However, it remains important to determine whether a permit is needed for your desired work to avoid unpleasant surprises.

That is why we offer a ten-year guarantee on the frames and windows we install, which can be used if, for example, there are problems with water or wind tightness. We offer a five-year guarantee on glazing. This guarantee applies, for instance, in case of condensation or dirt between the double glazing. We offer a two-year guarantee on hanging and locking systems.
